The Townsend Tennessee Chamber of Commerce is dedicated exclusively to the Townsend, Tennessee area, and nothing else. Our focus is local, intentional, and rooted in preserving the character that has long defined Townsend as the Peaceful Side of the Smokies. We support the businesses and organizations that serve visitors, residents, and families who value natural beauty, authenticity, and a slower pace of life.

Townsend is a destination for those who come to experience the grandeur of the Smoky Mountains through its landscapes, streams, wildlife, forests, and rich regional history. Unlike other entrances to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park that have become heavily commercialized, Townsend offers a quieter, more restorative alternative. The Chamber represents the businesses that provide the accommodations, services, and experiences that make visitors’ stays comfortable, enjoyable, and true to the spirit of the region.

In an increasingly digital world, travelers expect to find reliable, focused information online before they arrive. The Townsend Chamber of Commerce serves as a central, trusted source of information about the Townsend area — not the broader Smokies region, but Townsend specifically. Through this website, we help visitors from across the country and around the world discover what makes this community unique and why so many choose Townsend as their gateway to the national park.

Chartered in 1992 and renewed in 2000, the Chamber was designed to operate as a primarily online organization, providing information assets rather than physical infrastructure. This approach allows us to remain flexible, efficient, and focused on promoting Townsend and its businesses through modern digital communication. By serving as a virtual hub for visitors and local businesses alike, the Townsend Tennessee Chamber of Commerce continues its mission of strengthening the local economy while protecting the peaceful character that sets Townsend apart.
